Capital Call

A capital call is a request from the fund manager for you to send a portion of your committed capital. Funds call capital on different schedules: some collect it upfront, some call quarterly, and some call as deals close.

Example: If you commit $100,000 and the fund has called 60%, you’ve sent $60,000 and have $40,000 committed but not yet called.

Knowing the language helps you follow the conversation. Knowing what to ask is how you participate in it.

Understanding the terms is a first step. The Aligned Capital Program uses them to teach you how to evaluate a fund and prepare the questions to ask its manager.
