Vintage Year

A vintage year is the year assigned to a fund for performance comparisons, often based on its first close or first investment. Data providers may use different conventions, so check each benchmark’s definition.

Example: Compare a fund’s results with funds of a similar vintage and strategy, not with funds launched in very different conditions.
