KYC (Know Your Customer)

KYC (know your customer) is the set of identity and related checks a fund uses when onboarding investors and to meet financial-crime compliance requirements. A fund may also collect tax information and assess your eligibility during subscription, but accredited-investor verification is a separate requirement.

Example: A fund may ask for your identification and information about the source of the money you’re investing.
