Tax and legal terms

K-1 (Schedule K-1)

A K-1 (Schedule K-1) is the tax schedule a partnership typically issues to each LP, showing that investor’s share of income, gains, losses, deductions, and credits. Timing varies and can affect your tax filing plans.

Example: Ask a manager when prior-year K-1s have historically been delivered.

Knowing the language helps you follow the conversation. Knowing what to ask is how you participate in it.

Understanding the terms is a first step. The Aligned Capital Program uses them to teach you how to evaluate a fund and prepare the questions to ask its manager.
