Power Law

The power law is the pattern in venture returns in which a small number of investments may account for a large share of gains. It describes portfolios in general; it’s not a guarantee that every fund will produce an outlier.

Example: In a 25-company portfolio, one exceptional outcome might account for much of the fund’s return.
